Browser beta available now

Your Publisher files still open here.

BrochureBoss is desktop publishing software for people losing Microsoft Publisher. Open your .pub files and make print-ready flyers, brochures, and newsletters right in the browser.

Microsoft retires Publisher in October 2026. BrochureBoss opens those files so office managers, church secretaries, school staff, and small business owners do not have to start over.

What it does

One product: a desktop publishing app that runs in the browser now and ships as a downloadable desktop app in early 2027.

  • Opens .pub files

Bring in existing Microsoft Publisher documents so nothing gets stranded when Publisher goes away.

  • Frame-based layout

Same approach Publisher used — not a freeform canvas. If you already know frames, you already know this.

  • Templates that get you done

Flyers, brochures, newsletters, business cards, postcards, and bulletins. Replace the text and photos, then print.

  • Mail merge

Pull names and addresses from a spreadsheet or CSV for mailers and labels.

  • Print-ready PDF

Export with proper bleed and crop marks — the kind a real print shop will accept.

  • Your files stay yours

Saves to an open format on your computer. Nothing locked to an account.

Why it exists

Microsoft is retiring Publisher in October 2026. Millions of flyers, bulletins, newsletters, and menus live in .pub files, and most of the people who made them are not designers. They learned Publisher once and got good at it. Come October, that work has nowhere to go.

Canva and Adobe Express are built for people who enjoy designing. BrochureBoss is built for people who just need the bulletin done by Thursday. We open .pub files. They do not.

How it works

Straight path from your old files to something you can hand a printer.

  1. Open a .pub file or start from a template

Most documents import cleanly. Very complex layouts may need small fixes — there is a checklist for what to look at.

  2. Edit in frames, the way you already know

Replace text and photos. Adjust layout if you need to. No design degree required.

  3. Export a print-ready PDF

Hand it to your print shop, or print it yourself. Files stay on your machine in an open format.

Pricing

Free during the browser beta. Opening .pub files will always be free.

Common questions

  • Will it open my old .pub files?

Yes. That is the main reason it exists. Most documents convert cleanly; very complex layouts may need small fixes.

  • Do I have to install anything?

Not for the beta. It runs in your browser. A downloadable desktop version is coming in early 2027.

  • Is it really free?

The browser beta is free with no limits and no watermark. Opening .pub files will always be free.
